Hi! It’s been some time coming, but welcome to my very first blog. I’d like to say a big THANK YOU to Simon of TwistyStraws for all his help with my new website and the social media side of things.
Anyway, I thought it might be nice to share a few bits of information about me, rather than focusing on exec:secs, although of course I will be adding business related blogs in due course. So …
I was born in Liverpool, which of course you can tell by my accent (!) and moved around quite a lot as my dad worked for the NHS, so I’ve lived in Birmingham, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Rugby and London.
In my 20s I did a bit of travelling so at the tender age of 21 spent several months on a kibbutz in Israel which was an amazing experience. I then moved to London when I got back and a few years later went inter-railing around Europe, culminating in a month’s stay in Prague as it was so beautiful I couldn’t bring myself to leave! I ended up running out of money and getting a coach home for £50, only 24 hours! After that I came home for a few months but then went to Australia on a 1 year working visa.
I think the weirdest job I’ve ever had was in Australia, I worked for Mr Balloons in Sydney which basically entailed blowing up balloons at events to earn a living. It was fantastic!
My secret ambition is to be a professional snooker player (not much chance now though!) and something you might not know about me is that I was trained as a bi-lingual secretary so I speak French and German (rusty!).
My aim in life is simply to be happy, and running exec:secs enables me to do something every day that I enjoy. I’ve just launched my own training courses on Microsoft Office packages, the first of which are on Outlook, which is very exciting and my next new business venture. Watch this space for more info …
